A Metasurface-Based Single-Layered Compact AMC-Backed Dual-Band Antenna for Off-Body IoT Devices

In this article, a compact printed monopole dual-band antenna using artificial magnetic conductor (AMC)-plane with improved gain and broader bandwidth, applicable for off-body internet of things (IoT) devices is presented. The consists two C-shaped resonators connected through U-shaped monopole, parasitic elements, discrete ground circular rings co-planar waveguide (CPW) feedline. Each (AMC) unit cell slotted square stubs, designed zero-crossing phases improving the radiation characteristics to achieve high gain. overall size proposed AMC-backed 44.4 mm × 1.6 electrical dimensions 0.75λg×0.75λg×0.027λg. This featured measured bandwidths 9.6% 12.4% values 4.88 dB 4.73 at 2.45 GHz 5.8 GHz, respectively. specific absorption rate (SAR) are analysed found be 1.58 W/kg 0.9 GHz. Therefore, useful IoT operating industrial, scientific, medical (ISM) band applications.
